Prepare My Temple

Do you not know that your body is the temple (the very sanctuary) of the Holy Spirit Who lives within you, Whom you have received [as a Gift] from God? You are not your own (1 Cor. 6:19).

Jeremiah 29:13 states God will allow you to find Him, only when you have search with all your heart.  He will find you.  The question is, is your temple (sanctuary) ready to receive and accommodate His presence?

Lord prepare me to be a sanctuary, Pure and Holy, tried and true

With thanksgiving I’ll be a living sanctuary for you.

Let us analyse the first line of this chorus.

“Lord, prepare me to be a sanctuary” – this indicates that the temple is not ready for use.

It either needs to be cleaned, rearranged, refurbished, or a combination of all three.  When we prepare to go to school/work in the mornings, we: iron, take a shower/bath, get dressed, pack our bags, grab our purses/wallets, and we leave, all the while watching the time to ensure we do not run late.

David was humble, and he knew that God already knew all about him. He knew he was not perfect by any stretch of the imagination.  God knows this is the same for us today, we are not perfect yet.

However, the Lord still commands us to be holy as He is holy (Leviticus 20:26). Before we can have an encounter with the Lord, we must be consecrated, set apart.

Today, our desire should be to become pure, in the eyes of God, as we pour out our hearts to God to actively seek Him more.

Psalm 51: 10-11 (AMP) Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a right, persevering, and steadfast spirit within me. Cast me not away from Your presence and take not Your Holy Spirit from me.

I love the spirit and truth in your posts! They seem to be very “spot on” when it comes to spiritual meaning…

God gives us such wonderful gifts to use…primarily for service unto Him, but we also use them to better ourselves and enjoy our lives as we look forward to heaven.

We serve such a loving God!
